As employers continuously struggle to find qualified workers, the ex-offender population represents an untapped workforce. Experts agree the key piece to the puzzle of closing the revolving door on recidivism is stable employment. This forum will focus on educating employers on the continual role they play in reducing recidivism and the benefits and value of hiring returning citizens. The forum will also show the role correctional facilities and community partners play in providing training, mentoring and support to help minimize the challenges ex-offenders face in their reintegration process. Employers will learn about the initiative started at John's Hopkins Univ Hospital (in 2015 they hired 175 ex-offenders), the Federal Bonding Process, and Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program. Employers will also hear from a local employer who offers a path of opportunity for ex-offenders.
