Frederick County Parks and Recreation invites the community to celebrate the holiday season at Walking in a Winter Wonderland, returning to Clearbrook Park Friday, November 27, 2026, through Saturday, January 2, 2027.
This beloved holiday tradition transforms Clearbrook Park into a festive winter escape featuring hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, breathtaking lake displays, and a computer-controlled light show synchronized to cheerful holiday music. Visitors can stroll along a beautifully illuminated half-mile paved path and enjoy a memorable evening surrounded by holiday magic.
Guests can also explore Vendor Village, sponsored by Grand Event Rentals, to shop for gifts and Winter Wonderland merchandise. The Polar Pit Stop, courtesy of Rubbermaid, offers a place to warm up and enjoy a sweet snack or hot drink.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland is open nightly from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with timed 30-minute entry slots. Last entry is at 9 p.m., and the lights turn off at 9:30 p.m.
Winter Wonderland Trolley Rides
Adding to the holiday festivities, visitors can enjoy a special ride aboard the historic Winchester Trolley December 18–22, 2026. Trolley guests will depart from behind the Frederick County Government parking lot at 107 North Kent Street in Winchester.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy refreshments and take family photos with the holiday decorations at the George Washington Hotel before boarding.
Two departure times are available each evening:

5 p.m. departure: Arrives at Winter Wonderland at 5:30 p.m.; returns by 7 p.m.

6 p.m. departure: Arrives at Winter Wonderland at 6:30 p.m.; returns by 8 p.m.
Trolley tickets include transportation and Winter Wonderland admission. Guests ages 3 and older require a ticket; children ages 2 and under ride free.

Ages 0–2: Free At the gate: $15.00 per person Tickets can be purchased online until 5 PM on the day of the event. Advance ticket purchase is highly encouraged. Walk-up entry is not guaranteed. All sales are final.
