Country star Trace Adkins' performance helped to raise money for the Emil and Grace Shilhadeh Innovation Center in support of the Winchester Education Foundation through the Patsy Cline Classic IX, the official name for the concert. Adkins headlined the ninth Patsy Cline Classic at Handley High School on Wednesday, March 14th.  (For more information see The Winchester Star article, March 15, 2018)

Area students join peers in national demonstrations.  In Winchester, Frederick and Clarke counties, some students walked-out of class to hold peaceful demonstrations and 17-minutes of silence spurred by the shooting in Parkland Florida school. (For information, see The Winchester Star article on March 15, 2018).

The city's newest police officers are tough, dedicated and fully housebroken.  Axl and Riggs are the Winchester Police Department's newest canine officers.  The dogs and their handlers are in rigorous training which will last 16 weeks and will teach the canine officers basic obedience, how to sniff out suspects and suspicious items, and more.  (Read the full article in The Winchester Star on Saturday, March 17, 2018
