Laurel Ridge Community College is honored to welcome Virginia Gamba, who will join the college live from Argentina for a special hybrid event. An internationally-recognized leader in disarmament, peace, and human security, Ms. Gamba brings decades of experience in international diplomacy and global conflict prevention, including leadership in United Nations initiatives connected to efforts recognized with a Nobel Peace Prize.
She has served the United Nations in several senior roles, including:
- Fourth Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict
- Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
- Director and Deputy to the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs
