A Night Without A Bed
What is A Night Without a Bed? Family Promise Northern Shenandoah Valley is holding our 2nd annual “Night Without a Bed” fundraising event. We’re challenging our supporters, followers, and volunteers to be willing to sleep without a bed on the night of September 27, 2024. While embarking on this mission to sleep without a bed, you will raise awareness for the ongoing issue of family homelessness within the Northern Shenandoah Valley, while raising funds to help us end homelessness one family at a time. Ready to get involved?!
Who: Individuals or families, Boy/Girl Scouts, Churches, Youth Groups, Businesses, Civic Groups, Agencies, Police Departments, etc.
How: Sign up for yourself or a team from your organization to participate. You will receive a packet of information which includes a Team Registration form, Reflection Guide, and Make Choices Smarties game (Forms available on our website 6/17/24). Once you have your team gathered, determine how you want to participate. You can use your backyard or church space to pitch a tent and sleep in a sleeping bag, spend a night inside your cars, sleep in your living room on the floor with sleeping bags, or any other way to create an environment where you do not normally sleep.
When: On the night of September 27th, we ask our participants to sleep anywhere without a bed: cars, tents, a treehouse, your living room floor, or a couch, and share your experience on social media using the hashtag: #FPNSVnightwithoutabed.
Donations To FPNSV: Individuals and teams are encouraged to donate to FPNSV to help support families with children experiencing homelessness. Donations can be made at https://giv.li/ye2dpf or by sending a check to FPNSV, 131 Market St., Winchester, VA 22601.
How Your Donations Help Families in Need: $100 can help with household utilities; $250 will help fund our Prevention & Stabilization program for at-risk families; or $500 will help pay for a week in a local motel.
