Lunch & Learn with Janelle Washington
Share some pizza with us as we learn about the artistic process that went into Caldecott Honor-winning "Choosing Brave: How Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmett Till Sparked the Civil Rights Movement." Illustrator Janelle Washington, who also received the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe New Talent Award for her illustrations, will lead an engaging discussion. This event is free, and books will be available for purchase. Seating is limited, so please RSVP at laurelridge.edu/janelle, or by calling (540) 664-5027. Lunch & Learn will be held in Cornerstone Hall, Room 601. Washington's illustrations from the book and from her Washington Cuts collection will be on display in the Delores E. Sekel Art Atrium in Cornerstone Hall Feb. 28 through mid-April.
