Shenandoah Valley Hot Air Balloon & Wine Festival Weekend

Held amidst the brilliant fall foliage the event is a fun filled 3 day celebration packed with excitement for all ages. The Hot Air Balloon & Pumpkin “Glow” kicks of the festivities on Friday evening.Picnic on the spacious grounds or dine on a variety of festival foods while enjoying the Dixie Rhythm Band until dusk when tethered hot air balloons illuminate the skies. Sat. & Sun. more than 30 hot air balloons, including special shapes, take to the skies at a approx. 7:30 am & 4:30 pm. While the balloons are the stars of this unique event, they are just the beginning of the activities that take place; bring a blanket or lawn chair & relax on the beautiful sweeping lawn while enjoying a variety of entertainment; Swing, Country, Oldies & more! Wine Connoisseurs, sip vintages from more than15 Virginia wineries that will be on hand. The purchase of a Tasting Glass & wrist band permits those over 21 to taste from any vineyard. Mansion tours, offered at a discounted fee during the event,allow festivalgoers a sneak preview of the elaborate woodwork, fine furnishings & spectacular spiral staircase. More than 50 artisans & crafters demonstrate, exhibit & sell a unique selection of handcrafted wares plus gourmet food & specialty shops market jams, salsas, sauces, wine accessories, hats & more. There are plenty of activities to fill the kids day too; Children’s activities & amphitheater, costumed characters & hayrides. Plus there’s even more for all ages… radio controlled planes fly overhead, the Virginia Giant Monster Truck offers rides, Old Dominion Fire Society Antique Fire Engines are on display both days & Yesterday’s Cruisers host an antique car show Saturday only. To indulge your appetite there are plenty of great treats; kettle popped popcorn, cinnamon roasted nuts,burgers, rootbeer, pizza & more.
