the 152nd Anniversary of the Civil War Battle Cedar Creek
Belle Grove Plantation and our partners in Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park will commemorate the 152nd Anniversary of the Civil War Battle Cedar Creek on October 15 and 16, 2016. The reenactment grounds will be on the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation property with parking off of Route 11. More information and advanced tickets visit ccbf.us. Spectators may also visit Belle Grove Plantation, the site of Union Major General Philip Sheridan’s headquarters during the Battle of Cedar Creek and the location of the death of Confederate officer Stephen Ramseur. Free parking is available in the field across from the visitor entrance at 336 Belle Grove Road. There will also be a mowed walking path between the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation and Belle Grove Plantation properties. Belle Grove's property will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a reduced fee of $5 for those 12 and older to tour the Manor House. Belle Grove members will be admitted free of charge. Tickets for the Manor House may be purchased by entering under the front porch. Belle Grove's Museum Shop carries Civil War themed souvenirs and books and will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. On view at Belle Grove grounds will be demonstrations by the 10th Virginia Infantry and John Tole of Evergreen Shade will perform Civil War music. In the Manor House, Civil War living history interpreters will depict hearth cooking, herbals remedies, women’s handiwork fashions, and children’s games. The Ordnance Detachment of the Civil War Dance Foundation will also present a display of Civil War weapons and flags.
