Virtual Lunch and Learn- An Interactive Case Study in Fraud Detection
This event is free for members. 1 CPE credit will be awarded after attendance has been validated. The platform will be Zoom, and a link will be emailed to all registrants prior to the event. The guest speaker is Erik Halvorson. Erik specializes in financial fraud and public corruption investigations. He has 14 years of federal law enforcement experience including both domestic and international work. He enjoys using advanced analytics techniques to proactively detect and investigate fraud. A Columbia University graduate with degrees in criminal justice, accounting and applied analytics. The topic is An Interactive Case Study in Fraud Detection. This session will present a briefing on an actual federal grant-funding program. The group will be presented with options for next/additional steps and decide as a group on the best option. The topics include: organization, mapping, identifying usable data sources, identifying outliers, open source research, interviews, visualizations, metadata, and my favorite: analytics analysis.
