Arising Leadership Program Application - Class of 2026

The Arising Leadership Program (ALP) is a catalyst for the development of a dynamic workforce in the Top of Virginia region. This opportunity cultivates leaders in the arising generation that radiate confidence through awareness and experiential learning. ALP gives you the chance to discover and explore career paths in our region, connect with local professionals, develop leadership and communication skills, develop a sense of civic responsibility, and collaborate with other motivated students your age.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should be Rising Juniors and Seniors (Public, Private, or Homeschool students) in the jurisdiction of the City of Winchester and Clarke, and Frederick Counties.

ATTENDANCE: Participants must commit to attend every session in its entirety. Attendance is monitored and enforced. Because of the required time commitment, the support of parents/guardians is essential. Session dates are listed below. These dates are subject to change within the range of June 8-June17. Students selected to participate will receive a final schedule by May 1, 2026.

- Monday, June 1, 2026: Orientation 7:00pm-8:00pm*
* Parent/Guardian must attend orientation with student
- Monday, June 8, 2026: 8 am to 5 pm
- Tuesday, June 9, 2026: 8 am to 5 pm
- Thursday, June 11, 2026: 8 am to 5 pm
- Monday, June 15, 2026: 8 am to 5 pm
- Tuesday, June 16, 2026: 8 am to 5 pm
- Wednesday, June 17, 2026: 10 am to 5 pm
- Wednesday, June 17, 2026: 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm; Graduation Ceremony and Banquet (Parents and Guardians are invited to attend the Banquet.)

COST: This program is free to participating students, thanks to the generous contributions of sponsors. Morning snacks and lunch are provided.

TRANSPORTATION: Participants are required to provide their own transportation to and from the central meeting and pick-up point. (Location: 491 Airport Rd. Winchester, VA 22602)

ENGAGEMENT: Participants should be active, engaged, and respectful learners, and agree not to use any electronic devices unless it is with a designated time during breaks.

APPLICATION: Please submit the application below (complete with recommendation letter) completely and thoroughly by April 17, 2026. Application information is kept confidential and will be viewed by a TVRC selection committee as needed. Applicants will be notified if they are selected by May 1, 2026. Please have a teacher email a letter of recommendation to mspielman@regionalchamber.biz by April 17th, 2026. If you are enrolled in a homeschool program, you are welcome to have a community leader submit your letter.
