FDA Groundskeeper Supervisor

The Groundskeeper Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the lawn care and maintenance of the grounds, equipment, and vehicles at a federal government facility in Laurel, Maryland. They play a crucial part in supporting individuals with disabilities employed through the AbilityOne Program, managing and training the site crew to ensure successful execution of all grounds maintenance tasks. Reporting to the Director of Government Services of NW Works, the Groundskeeper Supervisor will be the primary on-site support, leading the crew, assisting with contracted tasks, and contributing to the success of future projects while ensuring adherence to the contract scope of work. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality grounds maintenance services while fostering a supportive and empowering work environment for employees with disabilities.
 

  • Manage and schedule subcontractors per contract (intermittent but infrequent weekend collaboration with subcontractors on site)
  • Manage local contacts and accounts with supply and repair providers.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationship with on-site federal contract representative.
  • Accountable for maintaining strict adherence to developed standards and schedule of grounds and maintenance tasks.
  • Operate with initiative and independence in preventatively maintaining equipment, problem solving on site and providing a superior service to the customer.
  • Strong background in operating and small repairs of landscaping equipment, tractors, attachments and preventative maintenance.
  • Preferred Candidates will be a Certified Horticulturalist or with support from NW Works, display willingness to obtain the certification.
  • Schedule hours: Monday-Friday 6:30AM to 2:30PM

Minimum Education and Experience:
  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Five (5) years of experience in landscaping/grounds maintenance care, equipment maintenance, and vehicle maintenance.
  3. Valid driver’s license in the state of residence. Must meet the eligibility criteria for driving NW Work’s vehicles.

Preferred Experience:
  1. One (1) years supervisory experience in similar field.
  2. Certified Horticulturalist (Not Required, but preferred)
