Seniors First is seeking a VICAP Coordinator (Virginia Insurance Counseling Assistance Program). 
The VICAP Coordinator will provide oversight for several seasonal programs including the VICAP program which includes the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) grant and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP). The VICAP Coordinator will also provide one-on-one counseling to help clients analyze and compare Medicare health plan and prescription drug plan options and access other benefits. He or she will develop schedules for volunteers, and present Medicare training to non-profit/older-adults, and community groups. The VCAIP Coordinator ensures the delivery of program services through support of VICAP volunteers. 

Requirements for the successful candidate include:

  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  
  • A High School graduate or its equivalent in combined formal education and career experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in the field of aging, aging services, and volunteer management preferred. 
  • Certification as a Virginia Insurance Counselor for Medicare required within 90 days of hire.
Agency covers cost of training and certifications. 

This is a part-time position with flexible hours.  The compensation is $17.00/ hour with some benefits (dental, vision, retirement, paid vacation and sick leave).
