Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
Job Summary:
The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) is responsible for providing work readiness skills training and support to individuals with disabilities, across various settings and times. The VRS works directly with individuals to promote employment opportunities, offering one-on-one job coaching in diverse environments. By fostering community partnerships, the VRS helps individuals explore and pursue careers within their chosen fields, while providing tailored guidance and training to ensure their long-term employment success. The goal is to prepare individuals for greater independence in the workforce.
Key Essential Duties:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience designing or facilitating job related assessments and training.
- Experience working with employers to develop and secure employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities
- Provides oversight, training, programming and support with program participants as needed to include transportation, advocacy, skill building and general activities.
- Monitors and documents productivity, engagement, and support needed to address goals outlined in the individual’s specific person-centered plan.
- Ensures that all individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and provided with ample opportunities to meet their individualized goals.
- Assists eligible individuals with disabilities to prepare for, retain, obtain and/or advance in competitive, integrated employment and includes assisting individuals with disabilities to transition from high school to postsecondary education and employment.
- Assists individuals in choosing appropriate employment by analyzing information to determine the individual’s strengths, resources, priorities, concerns abilities, capabilities and interests and matching that information to the current job market
Minimum Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, or associate’s degree with at least two years of relevant vocational training experience.
- Experience:
- A minimum of two years' experience in a human services field, with a focus on vocational training or job coaching.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in community-based settings.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- A valid driver’s license with verification of a clean driving record.
