News Release: Banner Year for Shenandoah Valley Swim League Showcases Area’s Growing Love for Swimming

Frederick County Parks and Recreation, Sherando Park, VA — The Shenandoah Valley Swim League (SVSL) celebrated a remarkable summer season, marking one of its most successful years to date. Over 570 young swimmers from six area teams—Clarke County (Clarke County Parks and Recreation), Clearbrook and Sherando (Frederick County Parks and Recreation), Stonebrook Racquet Club, Winchester Country Club, and Winchester Swim Team—hit the water, reflecting the league’s vibrant growth and the region’s increasing passion for swimming.

The season reached its high point on Saturday, July 26, as the Sherando Pool hosted the annual Championship Swim Meet. More than 400 plus swimmers—drawn from the talented pool of SVSL athletes—competed in front of an enthusiastic crowd. With coaches, family members, league officials, and swim fans in attendance, the event brought together nearly 3,000 people, turning the pool into a hub of community spirit and friendly competition.

Local coaches and SVSL officials say this year’s numbers are a clear sign that swimming is on the rise in the Shenandoah Valley. The sport’s popularity continues to surge, with more families and young athletes discovering the benefits of swimming—both in and out of the pool.

“It’s incredible to see how much our league has grown,” said one SVSL organizer. “We’re proud to offer a positive, healthy, and fun environment for so many kids each summer.”

With participation reaching new heights and community support stronger than ever, the Shenandoah Valley Swim League’s future looks as bright as the summer sun.
