Winchester Civil Air Patrol Cadet Awarded Flight Training Scholarship
WINCHESTER, Va. (April 20, 2025) – Civil Air Patrol Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Alekzander “Zander” Rogers, of Winchester, has been selected to receive a Civil Air Patrol scholarship from its Virginia Wing. This scholarship is an all-expenses-paid opportunity for Rogers to train and complete his solo flight and related training towards his private pilot certificate. He serves as the character development noncommissioned officer in charge with the Winchester Composite Squadron.
Rogers has had a long-standing passion for aviation. “For a while, I have wanted to be a pilot, and thanks to this scholarship, I am one step closer and am very grateful,” he said.
His impressive journey serves as an epitome to aspiring pilots within the squadron and beyond, showcasing the possibilities that can be achieved with the right guidance and determination. Rogers will continue to train out of Winchester Regional Airport in a Civil Air Patrol aircraft with certified flight instructors that are Civil Air Patrol adult volunteers.
Major Jacob Bixler, commander of the Winchester Composite Squadron, said, “Cadet Rogers is highly deserving of this scholarship. His dedication to any task that is assigned to him is inspiring and is a role model to many at the squadron. I am very excited to watch his continued progression as one of our nation’s future leaders and pilots!”
