Winchester Civil Air Patrol Cadet Awarded Powered Flight Training Scholarship
WINCHESTER, Va. (Mar 15, 2025) – Civil Air Patrol Cadet Major Madeline Marcelle, of Front Royal, has been selected to receive a $1,500 powered flight training scholarship from The Spaatz Association. The Spaatz Association is a fraternal organization for recipients of the Civil Air Patrol General Carl A. Spaatz Award. Their goals include providing an entity to harness the collective energy, enthusiasm, experience, and talent of General Carl A. Spaatz Award recipients to assist in making the CAP Cadet Program the finest youth development program in America, as well as promote the development of positive personal characteristics, to include leadership, professionalism, integrity, and perseverance in America’s youth.
Cadet Marcelle plans to receive flight and ground training with Civil Air Patrol and work towards her solo flight. When asked about the opportunity to receive flight training, she commented, “I'm beyond honored and grateful to have been selected for this scholarship. It has been my hope for a long time to learn to fly, and this scholarship will allow me to start learning! My goal is to solo before the end of 2025!”
