Clarke County residents are no longer required to display county decals on their vehicles, motorcycles and trailers.  County Administrator, David Ash said Wednesday the change is effective immediately, because decals are no longer necessary. (See the article for March 22, 2018 in The Winchester Star for more information.)

Public hearing scheduled for proposed 2019 budget.  Frederick County residents will have the opportunity to voice their concerns with the county's proposed fiscal year 2019 budget during a public hearing on Wednesday night, March 28, 2018.  (For more information see The Winchester Star article on March 24, 2018.)

Modular classroom use in Frederick County Public Schools.  Increased student enrollment and limited school capacity have led to the use of 36 modular classrooms at seven schools in Frederick County Public Schools.  Five of the schools are overcrowded and are in excess of 110 percent of their program capacity. In Winchester Public Schools, there is a modular unit with four classrooms at both Frederick Douglass and Quarles elementary schools.   Steve Edwards, Coordinator of Policy and Communications for Frederick County indicated the plan for upcoming projects on the divisions's 2019-23 Capital Improvements Plan is to alleviate overcrowding at the schools and thus reduce the need for modulars.    Clarke County Public  Schools currently has no modular classrooms.  (See the article in The Winchester Star March 24, 2018 for more information.)

Schenck Foods, a family-owned business, is taking a fresh approach as it enters its 90th year in business.  Continuing its delivery of large orders of canned and packaged goods to institutions and commercial kitchens, the company is looking forward to include local farmers' markets and local growers as sources for the more than 4,000 items it stocks.  Schenck Foods has a retail store and plans for a chef-created tasting dinners in the future.  (For more information see The Winchester Star article for March 24, 2018.)
